NAUS CMC OSUN CONVENES SECURITY MEETING FOLLOWING BURGLARY INCIDENT IN IFE
In response to a recent burglary that targeted students of Obafemi Awolowo University, the National Association of University Students Campus Monitoring Committee, Osun State Chapter (NAUS CMC OSUN), has held a high-level security meeting with law enforcement officials to address the growing concerns of student safety.
Her Treasurer, Comrade Alo Anthony Oluwapelumi and representatives from the Great Ife Students’ Union Security Committee, engaged with key officers of the Nigeria Police Force. The meeting was attended by the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations), representing the Osun State Commissioner of Police.
In a reassuring development, the Assistant Commissioner of Police apologized on behalf of the command for the security lapse and pledged enhanced police operations. This includes twice-daily patrols within student-populated areas and stricter security oversight around off-campus hostels.
Further directives were issued to the Area Commander to instruct all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the Ife area to:
* Intensify surveillance around student residences
* Conduct regular patrols with visible police presence
* Submit consistent security reports to ensure accountability
NAUS CMC OSUN has also called on students to remain security-conscious and to promptly report any suspicious activity.
Following the meeting, Comrade Alo Anthony Oluwapelumi personally visited the student affected by the burglary, offering support on behalf of NAUS and reinforcing the association's commitment to student welfare.
NAUS OSUN reaffirmed the committee’s dedication to working with security agencies and student unions across Osun State to protect the academic environment from threats.
