NAUS CMC OSUN GRACES ‘DIGNITY IN HER DAYS’ INITIATIVE, COMMENDS OJO OMOWUNMI MARVELLOUS FOR PRAGMATIC APPROACH TO MENSTRUAL HYGIENE

In a powerful push toward improving menstrual hygiene awareness and empowering female students, the National Association of University Students (NAUS), CMC Osun Axis, has commended Ojo Omowunmi Marvellous, convener of the “Dignity in Her Days (D.I.H.D)” initiative, for her pragmatic and compassionate approach to addressing menstrual health issues on campus. The impactful event, held at the Mozambique Hall of Residence, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, recorded over 100 beneficiaries—mostly female students who received sanitary pads, menstrual health talks, and educational support on proper hygiene management. NAUS CMC Osun was represented by her Treasurer, Comrade Alo Anthony Oluwapelumi, who lauded the initiative as a student-led model of social intervention. > “Ojo Omowunmi Marvellous has shown what purposeful student leadership looks like—tackling real issues with practical solutions. Menstrual hygiene is not a luxury, it is a necessity, and this project speaks directly to that truth,” he said. Also present at the event was Comrade Sanyaolu Omotayo, Director of Communication, NAUS CMC Osun, who emphasized the importance of dismantling the stigma surrounding menstruation and creating inclusive platforms that protect the dignity of young women. > “This is more than just distribution of sanitary pads; it’s an education, an awakening, and a restoration of dignity,” he noted.
In her remarks, Ojo Omowunmi Marvellous the convener of the D.I.H.D project, explained that the initiative was birthed from a deep concern for the silent struggles many female students endure monthly. > “This movement is about voice, dignity, and visibility. Menstruation should not be a source of shame or setback for any girl. With D.I.H.D, we are building knowledge, breaking taboos, and supplying hope—one pad at a time,” she said. The event featured a health sensitization session led by professionals, an interactive Q\&A segment, and the distribution of menstrual hygiene kits.
The success of Dignity in Her Days has positioned Ojo Omowunmi Marvellous as a rising voice in campus-based social advocacy, while NAUS CMC Osun’s involvement reflects its unwavering commitment to student welfare and gender-sensitive leadership. As the initiative continues to grow, it leaves behind a message both powerful and enduring: dignity is not optional — it is a right.
