NAUS CMC Osun leadership meet with DPOs to Discuss security concerns within Unilesa and it environsIn response to the rising insecurity affecting students off campus, the National Association of University Students (NAUS), Osun State Axis embarked on a strategic courtesy visit to various Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in Ilesa and its environs.
The 2-day visit, led by the NAUS CMC Chairman Com.Adeleke Samson accompanied by his Vice Com.Olalekan Johnson(IDERA) together with representatives from each campuses across the state was focused on addressing the recurring threats faced by University of Ilesa students in areas like Micho Dollar, Ido, imola and other student-populated zones. These engagements aimed to foster stronger collaboration with law enforcement in order to ensure student safety beyond the school premises.
The Chairman emphasized the disturbing trend of harassment, theft, and violence targeted at students, stating that if such insecurity continues at just two years into the institution’s existence, the future welfare of students remains at risk. “What happens in three to four years when the student population triples?” he asked. He further stressed that with thousands of new students expected in the coming academic session, immediate reforms and preventive measures must be put in place. NAUS called on the school management and security operatives to prioritize off-campus welfare just as much as on-campus concerns, reaffirming their commitment to protecting the rights, safety, and well-being of all Nigerian students in Ilesa.
