NAUS APPLAUDS UNILESA FOR REDUCING HOSTEL FEES AFTER MASS ACTION.

The National Association of University Students (NAUS), Osun State Campus Monitoring Committee, has applauded the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, Professor Taiwo Asaolu, for what it describes as a historic and student-responsive decision to reduce hostel accommodation fees in the institution.
The university management recently approved a reduction of ₦50,000 in hostel fees after constructive engagement with student representatives. The adjustment comes at a time when many students and their families continue to navigate economic hardship affecting their access to higher education. In a statement signed by the Chairman of NAUS CMC Osun, Comrade Adeleke Samson, the association described the decision as a "bold demonstration of leadership that listens, understands, and responds to the realities faced by students.” NAUS also acknowledged the official recognition granted to the association on the University of Ilesa campus, noting that the move will strengthen student-administration relations and reinforce advocacy for student welfare within the institution. The statement highlighted that Professor Asaolu’s leadership is rooted in empathy and dialogue, offering a model for student-inclusive decision-making in university governance. “We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Professor Taiwo Asaolu for his responsiveness and courage in addressing student concerns. This outcome reinforces the power of constructive engagement,” the statement reads.
